This is the later AiS version which has standardised aperture settings and therefore can be used on shutter priority cameras such as the Nikon FA as well as all of the other film cameras such as F3, FM2, FM3, etc etc. Also compatible in manual modes with Nikon DSLRs and even compatible when used with the appropriate adapter on Z series.
